The story
The Museum of Glass opened on July 6, 2002, on the Thea Foss Waterway, then an empty industrial channel so polluted that it was a federal Superfund cleanup site. The idea came in 1992 from Phil Phibbs, retired president of the University of Puget Sound, talking with Dale Chihuly; Chihuly insisted that the museum show glass by artists from around the world, not only his own. The Canadian architect Arthur Erickson designed it around a tilted steel cone 90 feet tall, which holds the Hot Shop, a glassblowing studio with seats, where live demonstrations run all day, every day the museum is open.
Wednesday to Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; last ticket 4:30 p.m. The traditional galleries closed in April 2026 for a renovation and are to stay closed until December 2026; the Hot Shop, studio, store and cafe stay open. Adults $18.

El Museo del Vidrio abrió el 6 de julio de 2002 junto al canal Thea Foss, entonces un cauce industrial vacío y tan contaminado que era un sitio federal de limpieza del Superfund.
