The story
The Chihuly Bridge of Glass is a 500-foot footbridge over the freeway and the railway, joining the Washington State History Museum plaza and Union Station to the Museum of Glass. It opened with the museum on July 6, 2002, a partnership between the Tacoma-born glass artist Dale Chihuly, the City of Tacoma and the museum, designed with the architects Andersson Wise. It carries three installations: the Seaform Pavilion, a luminous ceiling of glass over your head; the Venetian Wall, a long grid of glass in cases; and the two bright blue Crystal Towers. The architects meant its walls and roof to hold the art, filter the light and shelter walkers from the traffic below. The tourism board calls it a free outdoor museum.

El Puente de Cristal de Chihuly es una pasarela peatonal de 500 pies sobre la autopista y el ferrocarril que une la plaza del Museo de Historia del Estado de Washington y Union Station con el Museo del Vidrio. Abrió con el museo el 6 de julio de 2002, fruto de la colaboración entre el artista del vidrio Dale Chihuly, nacido en Tacoma, la ciudad de Tacoma y el museo, y se diseñó con los arquitectos Andersson Wise. Tiene tres instalaciones: el Seaform Pavilion, un techo luminoso de vidrio sobre su cabeza; el Venetian Wall, una larga cuadrícula de vidrio en vitrinas; y las dos Crystal Towers de un azul intenso.
