The story
Despite its name, Swinging Bridge does not swing. The old bridge was replaced with a fixed one after the flood of 1964.
It is a quiet place on the Merced River, with picnic tables, grills and a view back to Yosemite Falls, and a walking and biking path running past. The picnic area is open all year and free, and paved, mostly flat walkways lead to it and the bridge.
The river looks gentle here, but the park is blunt about it: swift, cold water is very dangerous and even deadly, and diving or jumping from the bridge is prohibited at all times. Keep your food within arm's reach, because bears are active across the valley.

A pesar de su nombre, el Puente Swinging, «puente que se balancea», no se balancea. El antiguo puente fue sustituido por uno fijo después de la inundación de 1964.
Es un lugar tranquilo junto al río Merced, con mesas de pícnic, parrillas y vista hacia las cataratas de Yosemite, y por delante pasa un sendero para caminar y andar en bicicleta. El área de pícnic abre todo el año y es gratuita, y hasta ella y el puente llegan caminos pavimentados y casi llanos.
