The story
Stand where the buses and trolleys pull in and look around you. The city of Newport calls this building its primary public transportation hub, and it is one of the three hubs that the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority organizes its bus lines around. The garage and lot hold 484 vehicles and are open around the clock, all year.
Two things catch visitors out here. First, the visitor information center that used to share this address has moved to 21 Long Wharf Mall, so that is where you go for maps and brochures. Second, parking costs money from May 1 through October 31: $2.50 for each half hour, up to $40 a day. If you plan to ride the Route 67 trolley, which is free from May 22 to October 31 in 2026 and runs out to the Mansions and the Cliff Walk, ask the driver for a voucher and your parking drops to $5 plus tax.
