A free museum of contemporary art and craft from the Puget Sound region, opened in 2013, with its founder's collection of artists' books.
The story
The Bainbridge Island Museum of Art opened in June 2013 in a LEED Gold building by the architect Matthew Coates, a few minutes' walk from the ferry. It shows contemporary art and craft from the Puget Sound region, with an eye for less known artists and for the region's strong traditions in glass, printmaking and sculpture, and its exhibitions change three times a year. Admission is free every day, as its founders intended.
Its founder, Cynthia Sears, has promised the museum her collection of artists' books, which reaches well beyond the region. The museum acknowledges that it stands in the ancestral territory of the Suquamish, the People of Clear Salt Water. It is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a bistro and a store, and every floor is reached by ramps and elevators.

El Museo de Arte de Bainbridge Island abrió en junio de 2013 en un edificio con certificación LEED Oro del arquitecto Matthew Coates, a pocos minutos a pie del ferry.
