The Museum of Sex, also known as MoSex, is a sex museum dedicated to preserving and presenting the history, evolution, and cultural significance of human sexuality. The museum focuses on a variety of sexual preferences and subcultures, including lesbian and gay history and erotica, BDSM, pornography, and sex work.
The story
Daniel Gluck opened this museum at 233 Fifth Avenue on 5 October 2002, and the exhibits were not the hard part. The New York State Board of Regents refused its non-profit application, arguing that a museum of sex made a mockery of the word museum. Gluck also turned down money from the pornography industry. Without the status and without that funding, the first ticket cost 17 dollars.
The opening show was NYC Sex: How New York City Transformed Sex in America, and that is still the honest frame for the place. It is a social history museum about the subject other museums leave out, running from Chinese erotic art to American pinup photography of 1860 to 1960 to living artists.
You must be 18 to get in, with no exceptions. A second location opened in Miami in October 2024.

Daniel Gluck abrió este museo en el 233 de la Quinta Avenida el 5 de octubre de 2002, y lo difícil no fueron las salas. La Junta de Regentes del Estado de Nueva York rechazó su solicitud como entidad sin ánimo de lucro, alegando que un museo del sexo se burlaba de la palabra museo.
