The story
King Street Station opened in May 1906. It was built for James J. Hill, who controlled the Great Northern and the Northern Pacific, and designed by Reed and Stem, the firm behind Grand Central Terminal in New York. Its clock tower was modelled on the bell tower of St. Mark's in Venice.
Mid century remodelling hid much of the interior. In 2008 the city bought the station for $10, and a restoration of about $50 million uncovered the plaster ceiling and set the four tower clocks running again. Look for the compass in the terrazzo floor at the entrance. More than 2.7 million passengers a year use it.

La estación King Street se inauguró en mayo de 1906. Se construyó para James J. Hill, que controlaba el Great Northern y el Northern Pacific, y la diseñaron Reed y Stem, el estudio de la Grand Central Terminal de Nueva York. Su torre del reloj se inspiró en el campanario de San Marcos de Venecia.
