The story
Castle Geyser takes its name from its cone, a huge, tall mound of geyserite that may remind you of a castle. The park says the cone is thousands of years old and rests on even older platforms; together they are one of the largest sinter formations in the world. The cone may have grown so tall because trees once growing here were coated in sinter.
Castle is predicted. On average it erupts about every 14 hours: water frequently reaches 75 feet for about 20 minutes, followed by a noisy steam phase of 30 to 40 minutes. After a minor eruption, a few minutes of water and no steam, the next major eruption cannot be predicted.
Look at the two sides of the cone. The west side is smoother than the stepped east side, and as the park tells the story, visitors once peeled off the living mats that grew there and damaged the cone for good. Water now flows down the east side.

El géiser Castle debe su nombre a su cono, un enorme y alto montículo de geiserita que recuerda a un castillo. El parque dice que el cono tiene miles de años y descansa sobre plataformas aún más antiguas; juntos forman una de las mayores formaciones de sínter del mundo.
