The story
The Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec describes itself as the living memory of Quebec art and artists. Its collection holds more than 42,500 works from the seventeenth century to the present, while temporary exhibitions bring local and international work into conversation.
The campus also tells a building story. The glass Pierre Lassonde Pavilion meets older museum structures and a former prison wing beside Battlefields Park. Moving between them makes changes in light, material and civic use part of the visit.
Choose one exhibition and spend sustained time with one work before reading its label. Universal Gallery can extend the documented artist, title or catalogue information. Regular hours are Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the first Wednesday of the month until 9 p.m. Monday is closed, and current construction may affect the approach.
