John Harvard Statue
Cambridge, MassachusettsAttractionviews
Daniel Chester French's seated bronze of 1884 in front of University Hall, the most photographed object in Cambridge. Its inscription is famous for being wrong three times: the face is a student's, John Harvard was a benefactor not the founder, and the college dates to 1636, not 1638.
Guide's tip. The shoe is shiny for a reason you may not want to know. Photograph it, do not rub it.
On a walking tour. Stop 4 of 10 on the walking tour Harvard, the Yard and around it, every stop on a map in walking order.
